Why does get with displayWithMouse not return a display name?

displayWithMouse selects the display a command should affect. Add a query such as identifier=name to request that display's name.

With betterdisplaycli installed and command-line integration enabled, use:

betterdisplaycli get -displayWithMouse -identifier=name

To change that display's brightness instead, specify the value to set:

betterdisplaycli set -displayWithMouse -brightness=80%

The first command reads the display name. The second changes brightness to 80% on the selected display, if its brightness control is available. A command containing only get -displayWithMouse supplies a target but no requested feature or value.

Use displayWithFocus when you want the display containing the focused window. Without a display selector, a command can apply to all relevant devices, so keep an explicit selector when you intend to act on just one display.

See CLI examples for installation, targeting, identifiers and adjustment syntax.
