Why does BetterDisplay quit when I close Settings?
Closing Settings normally leaves BetterDisplay running in the menu bar. If the app actually quits, check whether a window-management utility is configured to quit apps when their last window closes, and exclude BetterDisplay from that rule. This can happen with Supercharge’s window-closing behavior.
First distinguish a disappearing Dock icon from the app quitting. In Settings > Application, Show BetterDisplay in the macOS Dock can show the icon only while Settings or another window is open. Choose Always if you want it to remain visible. This setting changes the Dock icon, not whether BetterDisplay should keep running.
Look for BetterDisplay in Activity Monitor after closing Settings. If its process has ended, temporarily disable the other utility’s quit-on-close behavior or add an exception, reopen BetterDisplay and try again. If the process is still running but its menu-bar icon is missing, see the missing menu-bar icon checklist.
