Wake-on-LAN
Wake-on-LAN (WoL) asks a compatible device to wake through its network interface. A common request is a magic packet identifying the destination by its hardware MAC address. The device and its power/network configuration must support waking. Intel describes remote-wake requirements
BetterDisplay can send wake requests in supported TV and controller configurations. A working video connection is unrelated to this capability: the network interface must remain powered and reachable while the device is in standby.
A wake request is not a power-on acknowledgement. The MAC address identifies the interface to wake, while the host or IP address locates the endpoint used for later control commands.
See Network Controllers for the relevant configuration fields.
