How can I turn off direct XDR upscaling after my trial expires?

Choose an ordinary preset from Apple Display Preset in the built-in display’s menu. Selecting a preset exits Direct XDR Upscaling, and ordinary preset selection does not require Pro.

1. Open BetterDisplay’s app menu and expand the built-in display’s additional options if necessary.
2. Open Apple Display Preset.
3. Select Apple XDR Display, or the ordinary preset you want to return to, from the available list.

The change applies immediately. BetterDisplay turns off direct control and restores the saved brightness and automatic-brightness environment using your selected preset. You do not need to reset the app or delete your display configuration.

This procedure concerns direct hardware upscaling on a compatible built-in XDR display. Software upscaling and image adjustments are separate.
