KVM switch

A keyboard, video and mouse (KVM) switch lets more than one computer share a display and input devices. Some monitors include this function; other setups use a separate switch.

Switching computers can change which display information and control paths reach the Mac. Some switches keep a display logically present, while others cause a disconnect and reconnect. Their handling of EDID, bandwidth and DDC varies.

BetterDisplay settings cannot establish unsupported switch capabilities. See Display identification, DDC and KVM desktop continuity.
