Why does my LG webOS TV lose its network connection to BetterDisplay?

First compare the TV's current IP address with Device IP address in BetterDisplay's LG webOS controller settings. If the router has assigned the TV a different address, BetterDisplay can keep trying the saved address even though the TV itself is working.

  1. Find the TV's current address in its network settings or your router's device list.
  2. Open Settings > Displays > [display] > Device Control, then the LG webOS controller's configuration. Correct Device IP address and reconnect using the saved pairing information.
  3. Reserve an address for the TV in the router's DHCP settings so it receives the same address after reconnecting. Follow the router's instructions for that reservation.

Check this before repeatedly factory-resetting the TV. A stale address is a connection problem, not proof that pairing has been lost. Paired, waiting to connect can also be normal when the controller connects only on demand.

If control works while the TV is on but waking it fails, investigate the separate Wake-on-LAN path. Check the TV's network-standby settings, the detected MAC address and your network's handling of wake packets. A fixed IP alone does not guarantee wake support. VPN routing, network isolation and device standby behavior can affect reachability.

The controller's Reconnect on network error option retries a persistent connection, but cannot correct the wrong address or make an unreachable TV respond. See LG webOS settings for pairing, connection status and power options.
