Color table

A color table remaps output values before they reach the display. BetterDisplay uses separate tables for the color channels to provide software adjustments such as gamma, color balance and inversion.

Think of this as changing the image values, rather than asking the monitor to change its hardware brightness setting. It is also different from applying a three-dimensional LUT filter to a stream. These approaches can serve related purposes, but they work at different places in the image path.

Whether color-table adjustments are available, and how they interact with HDR, depends on the display and adjustment method. See Gamma and Brightness for those concepts, or Image Adjustments for the controls.
