Control

In BetterDisplay, a control represents a specific device operation or adjustable value, such as brightness, volume, input selection or power. A controller provides the method used to carry out that operation.

A ranged control accepts values within a range. A neutral value marks its unadjusted point, which need not be the midpoint or a measured physical value. Other controls perform a command or select a discrete option. A menu slider is one way to use a control; keyboard shortcuts and integrations can address it too.

Custom controls describe additional device operations. Their presence in the app does not prove that the device supports the underlying command. See DDC Control and Control Integration and Events.
