HDMI-CEC

HDMI Consumer Electronics Control (HDMI-CEC) lets compatible audiovisual devices exchange control commands over an HDMI connection. Power and remote-control actions are common examples. Manufacturers may use a name of their own for the feature; Sony calls its version BRAVIA Sync. Sony explains its BRAVIA Sync naming

A working HDMI picture is not enough to establish CEC support. Video transport, CEC and DDC are separate capabilities, even when they are associated with the same display connection.

BetterDisplay's CEC controller needs a supported communication path. Its enablement, selected addresses and the device's command support then determine which requests can work. The controller cannot add a missing capability to the television or adapter.

See HDMI-CEC for setup and supported paths.
