HDMI

High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is a digital connection for video, audio and related data between devices. It is commonly used by monitors, TVs, receivers and adapters.

The usable resolution, refresh rate and HDR mode depend on the whole connection, including both devices, adapters and cable. A connector or interface version alone does not establish every supported feature.

HDMI-CEC is a separate command mechanism for compatible devices; it is not the picture signal itself. Likewise, successful video output does not prove that DDC commands pass through an adapter. See HDMI-CEC, DDC and HDMI's technology overview.
