Refresh rate

Refresh rate is how often a display refreshes its image. It is measured in hertz (Hz): a fixed 60 Hz mode refreshes 60 times each second. Variable refresh rate (VRR), including adaptive modes, can change the cadence within a supported range. Apple’s refresh-rate guidance

BetterDisplay's choices come from modes available for the current setup. Changing Resolution, HDR or the connection can change the available rates, so a list is specific to the configuration you are using.

Display refresh rate is different from the frame rate of captured content. A 60 Hz screen can show a stream captured at fewer frames per second; refreshing the screen more often does not create additional source frames.

See Refresh Rate for fixed and adaptive choices and the extra rate options.
