OSD
An on-screen display (OSD) is a temporary visual overlay showing an adjustment, such as brightness or volume. BetterDisplay uses it to provide feedback when you use supported keys and controls, so you can see the change without opening a settings window.
Your monitor may also have its own built-in OSD menu. These are separate interfaces: hiding BetterDisplay's feedback does not turn off the monitor's menu. A feedback value also does not prove that a hardware command succeeded.
BetterDisplay can send OSD notifications for another app to present. If both apps show feedback, you may see two overlays for the same adjustment.
See Keyboard for keyboard control and OSD for feedback styles, placement and interaction.
