UI scale matching

UI scale matching chooses desktop modes that bring the physical size of interface elements closer across displays. It is useful when text and windows look much larger on one monitor than another.

Using the same logical resolution on differently sized panels does not necessarily produce the same interface size. BetterDisplay compares desktop dimensions with physical display dimensions and looks for a suitable available mode within the group's tolerance.

Matching can therefore be limited by available modes, reported panel sizes, mirroring and protected resolutions. It does not guarantee identical pixel density or color appearance. See UI Scale Matching and Pixel density.

The macOS scaling explanation shows how logical desktop size relates to rendering detail and the panel’s physical pixels.

To prepare a matching group and compare the result on your screens, follow Make text and interface elements a similar size across different displays.
