VCP code

A Virtual Control Panel (VCP) code identifies a monitor control in VESA's Monitor Control Command Set (MCCS). Software uses these numeric codes to refer to controls instead of physically pressing the monitor's buttons. VESA describes MCCS and its VCP codes

BetterDisplay maps VCP codes to DDC controls such as brightness, input source and custom actions. The code identifies the requested function, but the monitor determines its accepted values, range and read/write support.

A manually entered code is therefore not proof of support. Even a reported capability does not establish that the monitor implements the control correctly through the current connection.

See DDC Control for configuring the mappings and compatibility options.
