What can I try if an App Store Touch ID prompt disappears while image adjustments are active?
Temporarily suspend image adjustments on the affected display, then retry the App Store action. Display overlays and compositor-filter adjustments can interfere with this authentication interface, so checking the active image effects is more useful than assuming brightness upscaling alone is responsible.
The App Store purchase button can also disappear while an image-adjustment overlay is active. Try moving the App Store window to a display without those adjustments, or suspend the adjustments on its current display before retrying.
Open App Menu > [display] > Image Adjustments and enable Suspend Image Adjustments. This keeps the saved values while applying neutral settings for suspendable adjustments. Alternatively, return Saturation to its neutral value of 1.00 if that is the effect you changed.
If the prompt returns, re-enable adjustments individually to identify which combination triggers the problem. A successful test does not mean all Touch ID prompts are affected, or that direct XDR upscaling must always be disabled.
Direct XDR control and color-table-based software upscaling use different methods from compositor-filter effects such as saturation. Changing the brightness method alone does not remove other active image effects. Keep the custom-profile compatibility safeguard in place when considering color-table control.
See Image Adjustments for the available controls. If suspending them makes no difference, restore your settings and investigate the authentication problem separately.
