Why does an input named HDMI switch my monitor to USB-C?

The default input names represent common DDC assignments. They are not a detected map of your monitor's physical connectors. Manufacturers can use the same numeric value for differently named ports, so a working command may have an unexpected label.

To correct the list for your display:

  1. Open Settings > Displays > [display] > Device Control > DDC Control > Input Sources….
  2. Enable Customize input source list for this display. DDC Input Source Control must be enabled for the editor to be available.
  3. For a command you already know selects the correct port, change its Description and Icon to match that port. Keep its working Value.
  4. Use Menu visibility to hide irrelevant entries or organize useful ones into Block 1 through Block 4.

Changes save automatically. A capabilities report can help identify supported values, but does not reliably supply the physical port names or a complete, accurate input list. Do not assume another monitor model uses the same assignment.

Renaming an entry changes its presentation, not the command sent to the monitor. If switching works only in one direction, see switching back after changing input. The DDC input settings reference explains alternate LG commands and restoring the default list.

Check the number format when comparing tools: hexadecimal 0x0f, 0x10 and 0x11 are decimal 15, 16 and 17. An HDMI input shown as 11 in a hexadecimal report therefore matches decimal 17. Replacing it with decimal 11 would send a different value. Matching numbers do not by themselves establish why a particular switch fails.
