Configuration protection

Configuration protection asks BetterDisplay to preserve chosen display settings and restore them when a change is detected. Protected values can include resolution, refresh rate, rotation and other supported configuration choices.

This is an app policy, rather than a lock imposed on macOS or the monitor. Restoring a setting still depends on the display being available and the requested configuration remaining usable. Protection can also affect intentional changes from other apps or automatic features.

See Configuration Protection. Group layout protection has a separate purpose: restoring where displays sit relative to each other.
