Can several PiP windows show different parts of the same screen?
Yes. Add multiple PiP configurations to the same physical display or virtual screen, then give each configuration its own crop area. Each window keeps independent crop, filter, transform and window preferences.
Follow Build a floating dashboard from several live screen regions for a setup that preserves existing configurations and places the views on a separate working desktop.
- Keep the source display connected and grant macOS Screen Recording permission. PiP and additional configurations require Pro.
- Open App Menu > [source display] > Picture in Picture and turn on Enable Picture in Picture Window.
- Enable Enable Cropping, choose Draw Crop Area On Screen…, and select the first source region.
- Return to the source’s original PiP menu and choose Add PIP Configuration. Open the new numbered configuration, enable its window, and choose a different crop.
- Move the viewing windows where you want them. Repeat for additional regions.
For example, you can watch two regions of a dashboard side by side without creating a separate virtual screen for each region. Cropping changes the view, not the source desktop or the application’s layout. Using a tall virtual desktop does not automatically make a document flow into columns. The application must first render the content in that source area.
The crop selector adjusts the PiP window’s proportions to the selected region unless Free Aspect Ratio is enabled. To interact with the original content, use the PiP pointer actions. See Picture in Picture for configuration and window options.
